Nokia 8 in comparison with OnePlus 5, HTC U11 and Galaxy S8

The price is lower, but the equipment just as well: The Nokia 8 holds loose with the other Android flag ships with. The similarities and differences to the HTC U11, OnePlus 5 and Samsung Galaxy S8, you can find here.

No display like the other

Among the flagship models, the Nokia 8 has the smallest touch screen: 5.3 inches, its IPS display is large and offers a resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels. About this, the HTC U11 also has, only the 5.5 inch LCD display is slightly larger. Just the same as the screen of the OnePlus 5 , but with 1920 x 1080 pixels a lower resolution. But this is not yet too small. In turn, the colors of its AMOLED display are more powerful and the black satter. This also applies to the 5.8-inch Super AMOLED display of the Galaxy S8 . With its 18.5: 9 aspect ratio, it reaches the highest resolution of the four smartphones with 2960 x 1440 pixels.

Cameras with one or two lenses

The Nokia 8 with its 13-megapixel dual camera we have not yet under scrutiny, but the manufacturer promises itself through the cooperation with Zeiss much. The other three flagships have already convinced in tests - each camera has different advantages. The U11 can adorn itself with the currently highest point value in the DXOMark test, but the Galaxy S8 follows with only two points. Besides the Nokia 8, the OnePlus 5 is the second smartphone in this comparison with a dual camera. It uses it for a bokeh effect as well as a zoom. The Nokia 8, on the other hand, takes a color and monochrome photo with each of its two lenses to combine it for a better picture quality.

An outlier at the chipset

The hardware of the four top smartphones is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, the stagher among chipsets. Only Samsung installed in the German version of the Galaxy S8 the in-house Exynos 8895. Der ensures however only for small performance differences. This is hardly affected by the six gigabytes of memory of the OnePlus 5. With internal memory, 64 gigabytes are the current standard among the four comparison smartphones. With the exception of the OnePlus 5, the memory capacity can be increased with a microSD card. OnePlus offers its smartphone instead in a second variant with 128 gigabytes of storage space and eight gigabytes of memory.

Rechargeable batteries for one day

In the case of battery capacity, all four devices are close to each other. The HTC U11 and the Galaxy S8 come with a capacity of 3000 mAh. The Nokia follows with 3090 mAh. The OnePlus 5 sits down with 3300 mAh something. In the end one will have to load each of the smartphones once a day - unless you use it hardly. Thanks to various fast-charging technologies, the batteries are quickly refilled.

Android nougat for all

On all four smartphones Android Nougat runs. With the subtle difference that the Galaxy S8 still runs with the version 7.0. The work on the update to the version 7.1.1 runs at Samsung probably on high tours and could be completed soon . While Samsung with the Samsung Experience, HTC with Sense UI and OnePlus with OxygenOS on their own user interfaces, the Nokia 8 wants to convince with a pure version of Google's operating system and ultimately deliver updates more quickly.

Prices are falling

The suggested retail price for the Nokia 8 is 579 euros. So it is more expensive than the OnePlus 5 , depending on the version 499 or 559 euros, but significantly cheaper the top models of Samsung and HTC. At least if you follow the manufacturer's instructions. According to them, the HTC U11 759 euros and the Galaxy S8 cost 799 euros. In practice you get them in the trade also cheaper, but not quite as cheap as the Nokia 8.
