Among the innovations of iOS 11 belongs also the files app of Apple. This is a kind of Explorer, which allows you to create and search your directories on your smartphone - similar to the way it is also possible in Android. We'll tell you what you can do with the app.
Browse with the Files app folder
In order to search under iOS 11 files on your iPhone, iPad or your iCloud, you first open the files app and tap "Browse". In the "Locations" tab you can now select whether the program should display content from the cloud or from the internal memory. Then you will see the folders and files that are in the selected location. Tap a directory to view its contents. The navigation works similar to the Explorer on a Windows PC. In addition, you have a "search" -list that helps you find content.
Copy, rename and tag
You can also interact with files in the files app under iOS 11. Hold your finger longer on a file or folder. Afterwards, you will see a small pop-up menu, where you can choose from several actions: You can copy, rename and move.
If you tap on the right of the arrow, you will see additional functions. In addition to "Delete", you can set tags here. This allows you to select folders and files. You can find them not only in the directory itself by the color easier; In the "Browse" menu, the created tags are listed. If you click on one of them, you will see all the content you have marked accordingly.
Recover deleted data under iOS 11
If you are in the Browse menu, you will see "Recent Locations" under "Locations". There remain files for a while that you have removed before they completely disappear. Here you have the possibility to restore individual or all contents - or delete them manually manually. First click on the selection button in the upper right and select a file or several files. At the top left you can also select all data under "Last deleted". In the action bar at the bottom, you can then select whether the selected content should be removed or restored.
Use markers in documents
The files app on iOS 11 is not just used to manage your data. You can also open documents in the application, such as a PDF. At the top right you will see a round icon with a pen in the center. This is a marker. Select the function and look for a pencil and a color in the bar below. After this, you can mark text passages with a marker.
