Android App from Starbucks now supports fingerprint sensors

Simply pay cash without the coffee: The Starbucks app for Android receives an update, which allows authentication via fingerprint sensor and contains some improvements. However, it is not yet clear if and when the update can be used in Germany.

The new Android version of the Starbucks app is now available in the Google Play Store . The improvements include improved performance and bug fixes. There are new animations for ordering and paying, and the Starbucks account is now updated more frequently. The biggest innovation, however, is the support for the fingerprint sensor.

When signing up, paying for and purchasing, for example, credit card types, US users can now authenticate themselves in the app via the fingerprint sensor. Previously, a password had to be entered, which can take some time (depending on the length of the password). The new feature should now speed up the ordering of a coffee via smartphone. It is to be expected that an update for the iOS version, which includes support for Touch ID, will soon follow.

However, it is not yet clear whether the corresponding update will also be available for Germany. For this reason, users on iOS and Android must access the app "Starbucks Deutschland" . And this apparently has not received any attention from the developer for quite some time: The last update for Android took place in September 2016 - almost a year ago. Also the iOS version of the application has not been updated since then.
